NO MATTER WHAT

“Love the L ORD  your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV) I remember the day Art and I settled in our hearts we would choose to trust God’s love for us and pursue a relationship with Him, no matter what. We were in the hospital with our middle daughter who was 6 weeks old. She had seemed a perfectly healthy baby until an allergic reaction landed us in the intensive care unit. The doctors told us on the fourth day of our visit that Erica needed emergency surgery, and they did not expect her to survive. They gave us five minutes to tell our baby goodbye. My heart was shattered. I so desperately wanted to scoop her up and run out of the hospital. I wanted to somehow breathe my life into hers. I wanted to take her place. I could handle my own death so much easier than the death of my child. Art prayed over Erica, we both said our goodbyes, and then, with tears streaming down our faces, we let her go. Wh

HE WANTS TO IMPACT YOU WITH WISDOM

Are you going through a rough time right now? You’re not alone. People all over the world are feeling the effects of the pandemic, it’s taken a toll on our mental, physical  and emotional health. There are many uncertainties and questions about how to move on with our lives in this ongoing crisis. Everybody’s struggling. The Bible tells us exactly what we should do when we don’t know what to do and we’re feeling the pressure to do the right thing, “If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking. But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm” ( James 1:5-6 ) God isn't holding back wisdom. He gives wisdom to anybody who asks for it. Have you asked God to give you wisdom on how to handle the pandemic? Have you asked him for wisdom on what to do about your job, your future, your kids,

STOP LOOKING TO BLAME

p dir="ltr"> “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” John 9:2 In today’s Scripture, some people asked Jesus whose fault it was that this man was born blind. They were looking for somebody to blame. Some reason, some excuse. Jesus said, “It’s nobody’s fault. The reason he was born this way was so that the goodness of God could be displayed.” When something unfair happens don’t get stuck looking for a reason, trying to find someone or something to blame. All that blaming is going to do is give you a reason to feel sorry for yourself. You are not going to understand why everything happens. Nothing that’s happened to you is a surprise to God. He sees every wrong that’s been done to you and every disadvantage and He is a God of justice. If you stay in faith, it won’t work against you, it will work for you. God will use it to show out in your life. He’ll take what was meant

REAL YOU

“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 We live in a society that stresses image. It’s easy to go through life trying to impress people, to show them that we’re strong, that we have it all together. It’s good to carry ourselves with confidence, but sometimes we have such a need to keep up our image that we put on a mask and start pretending. We can’t let someone see that we have weaknesses, that we’re struggling in areas, and we don’t have all the answers. But the Scripture says that if we go around wearing masks, God’s power is not going to show up. God won’t bless the ideal you, the pretend you, the future you. He’s looking for the real you. Remember that there’s power in vulnerability. When you empty yourself out God can fill you, but if you’re full of yourself acting, pretending, keeping up your image there’s no roo
