NO MATTER WHAT

Image
“Love the L ORD  your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV) I remember the day Art and I settled in our hearts we would choose to trust God’s love for us and pursue a relationship with Him, no matter what. We were in the hospital with our middle daughter who was 6 weeks old. She had seemed a perfectly healthy baby until an allergic reaction landed us in the intensive care unit. The doctors told us on the fourth day of our visit that Erica needed emergency surgery, and they did not expect her to survive. They gave us five minutes to tell our baby goodbye. My heart was shattered. I so desperately wanted to scoop her up and run out of the hospital. I wanted to somehow breathe my life into hers. I wanted to take her place. I could handle my own death so much easier than the death of my child. Art prayed over Erica, we both said our goodbyes, and then, with tears streaming down our faces, we let her go. Wh

HE WANTS TO IMPACT YOU WITH WISDOM

Image
Are you going through a rough time right now? You’re not alone. People all over the world are feeling the effects of the pandemic, it’s taken a toll on our mental, physical  and emotional health. There are many uncertainties and questions about how to move on with our lives in this ongoing crisis. Everybody’s struggling. The Bible tells us exactly what we should do when we don’t know what to do and we’re feeling the pressure to do the right thing, “If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking. But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm” ( James 1:5-6 ) God isn't holding back wisdom. He gives wisdom to anybody who asks for it. Have you asked God to give you wisdom on how to handle the pandemic? Have you asked him for wisdom on what to do about your job, your future, your kids,

STOP LOOKING TO BLAME

Image
p dir="ltr"> “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” John 9:2 In today’s Scripture, some people asked Jesus whose fault it was that this man was born blind. They were looking for somebody to blame. Some reason, some excuse. Jesus said, “It’s nobody’s fault. The reason he was born this way was so that the goodness of God could be displayed.” When something unfair happens don’t get stuck looking for a reason, trying to find someone or something to blame. All that blaming is going to do is give you a reason to feel sorry for yourself. You are not going to understand why everything happens. Nothing that’s happened to you is a surprise to God. He sees every wrong that’s been done to you and every disadvantage and He is a God of justice. If you stay in faith, it won’t work against you, it will work for you. God will use it to show out in your life. He’ll take what was meant

REAL YOU

Image
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 We live in a society that stresses image. It’s easy to go through life trying to impress people, to show them that we’re strong, that we have it all together. It’s good to carry ourselves with confidence, but sometimes we have such a need to keep up our image that we put on a mask and start pretending. We can’t let someone see that we have weaknesses, that we’re struggling in areas, and we don’t have all the answers. But the Scripture says that if we go around wearing masks, God’s power is not going to show up. God won’t bless the ideal you, the pretend you, the future you. He’s looking for the real you. Remember that there’s power in vulnerability. When you empty yourself out God can fill you, but if you’re full of yourself acting, pretending, keeping up your image there’s no roo

BE A SIGNPOST

“ And the Syrians had gone out on raids and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman’s wife. Then she said to her mistress, ‘If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.’”  ( 2 Kings 5:2–3 ) Naaman was a great general who handed many military victories to the king of Assyria. But Naaman had a problem he had leprosy.  Fortunately, a young servant girl captured from the land of Israel worked for Naaman’s wife. At an opportune time, the servant girl told Naaman’s wife that Naaman could be healed if he would see the prophet, Elisha. Ultimately, Naaman acted on the information, and he was healed from his leprosy. This “unimportant” servant girl was a signpost who pointed the way for Naaman to experience salvation from this deadly disease. We may feel insignificant and unimportant. However, as believers, we are messengers who are able to tell people about the cure for their

DIVINELY ARRANGED, BEAUTIFULLY TIMED

Ecclesiastes 3:11  “He has made everything beautiful in its time…” blessing of a miracle child even though she was barren and her husband was old (see 2 Kings 4:8–17). A few years later, it was this friendship with the man of God, which saw her through a crisis when her son fell seriously ill and died—Elisha raised her son back to life (see 2 Kings 4:18–37). When God is the one orchestrating the events in your life, neither lack nor danger nor destruction can affect you. When famine hit the land, the Shunammite woman’s family did not suffer because through Elisha, God had told them to leave the land. They went to the land of the Philistines and dwelt there throughout the seven years of famine (see 2 Kings 8:1–2). God can place you at the right place at the right time, even through your daily decision-making. The Shunammite woman returned to Shunem after the famine had ended. She then decided to appeal to the king of Israel for help to regain her house and land, which had been ille

GOD'S DEALING ARE JUST

"No more no less of my words, this is the conviction in my heart. You see when I understood the meaning of life it has been everything but hard to make out every situation in my life •yes even the hard ones• esp the hard ones that especially when I questioned if I was meant at the moment and why wasn't I? Probably I thought it was too much for me. But am here! I handled it, it is as he said nothing is too much than you, I can handle it." "So I finally figured it out *power of the brain* our brains are one powerful part. ||And this is just how|| Like any Control Center [my brain] (is)am able to tell poison from honey in any situation within me and this has helped me a great deal past few months because I am able to stand on focus and my heart is a fortress." "If it can't fall I never will fall. It takes a little convincing to the heart. And as you know the heart loves anything happy and cheerful..with this achievement

THE PROBLEM WITH FAMILIARITY.

Image
Familiarity is a curse. Familiarity is the source of many problems in our life. The problem however is that familiarity is not too familiar to many people such that they do not know its effect on their life. Too many marriages are breaking because the couple has become familiar to each other, too many families are being torn apart because children have become too familiar with their parents that they can no longer listen to them, people have lost their jobs because they became so familiar with it such that they could no longer follow the rules and sadly too many people have fallen short of the glory of God because they were too familiar to God. The list is endless...... The " familiar " word comes from the Latin word  familiaris , meaning a “ household servant .” This means that when you are familiar with someone or something, you regard that person or thing as your household servant. Someone who is at your beck and call and who should respect you not the other way

WORKING A GODLY RELATIONSHIP

Image
Hebrews 10:24-25   "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Learning how to love your neighbor requires a willingness to draw on the strength of Jesus Christ as you die to self and live for Him. Living in this manner allows you to practice biblical love for others in spite of adverse circumstances or your feelings to the contrary. Love your neighbors through thick and thin... Don't seek to please them, but to please your Master; and remember, if they spurn your love, your Master has not spurned it, and your deed is acceptable to Him as if it had been acceptable to them. There's something like radar inside the human heart that senses the displeasure of others. Displeasure and ingratitude are like a repellant to human relationships. Aloness can lead

FOUR DANGEROUS SYMPTOMS OF PRIDE.

Image
Pride is the undoing of the Christians faith. It most often breeds overconfidence in our lives while preventing us from doing the one thing we should be…calling out for our Savior. As Jesus said in Mark 2:17 “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” When we allow pride to rule our lives, we tend to push Christ to the side…because, after all we aren’t sick. As dangerous as it is, pride is also very difficult to spot. Have you ever heard the saying “I’m the least prideful person I know.” We laugh, but often we subconsciously take on that attitude. There are many areas in our lives in which pride can seep in. For that reason we have compiled a few symptoms of pride for us as believers to self diagnose When we allow pride to rule our lives, we tend to push Christ to the side…because, after all we aren’t sick. As dangerous as it is, pride is also very difficult to spot. Have you ever heard the saying “I
